Client Testimonials

I struggle with depression and anxiety, and I am so glad to be working with Harvey Hyman.  Harvey is an excellent, highly empathic therapist.  He has helped me in my struggles by helping me cultivate self-compassion and develop effective tools to use when I’m feeling the most depressed, hopeless or anxious. I value his ability to help me develop insight into ways that my childhood experiences impact me, and ways I can use this knowledge to move forward into a healthier, happier, more authentic life. I highly recommend Harvey as a highly skilled and compassionate psychotherapist.

I have struggled with depression and PTSD on and off since childhood. I was feeling really stuck when I met Harvey. He was authentic, shared what his practice was about & we set up a meet. Ever since I have found each session helpful…we have hit on topics and aha moments that somehow I missed in prior therapy. The shifts are lasting – I feel a sense of  healing I haven’t felt before. Harvey is responsive, insightful and a highly skilled therapist. Definitely five stars!

My therapist, Harvey Hyman, might be the best connection I’ve had, having met with at least three previous very good therapists in my life. He is totally professional and experienced. I look forward to talking with him and I feel better after every meeting. He is attentive, and keeps track of the subjects of our meetings. He has a great sense of humor, and is incredibly resourceful. I have the utmost respect for Harvey!

Harvey opened me up to conversations and reflection around medical trauma and family conflict that I was never able to have before now. I always felt like he was on my side, could fully empathize with what I was feeling, and also intuit what the next step needed to be. I appreciated the opportunity for open dialogue, his kind and philosophical approach to healing, and the tools and “talking points” he shared with me.

Foundationally, Harvey made me feel understood and seen.  Secondly, his approach, utilizing metaphor, story, the IFS model, and other techniques really allowed me to inquire within.  His invitations for me to consider certain possibilities, as well as his encouragement and affirmations were thoughtful, insightful, and extremely beneficial during a challenging and troubling time.

I came to Harvey hoping to increase my self-confidence and self-trust while decreasing my tendency to fear conflict and people please. Harvey provided a safe environment for me to dig into aspects of my childhood upbringing that helped me better understand why I developed issues with low self-confidence, people pleasing, and conflict-avoidance. I came to understand they were not permanent aspects of my personality but rather unconscious survival strategies that got me through life at home. Through my last six months in therapy with Harvey I have definitely grown in my ability to speak up for myself, make decisions that increase my own well-being without feeling guilty, and stop acting in ways I did not enjoy solely to please others and keep them from disliking or rejecting me. I often come out of my sessions with Harvey feeling refreshed and more clear headed.

I have learned a great deal about myself working with Harvey. He is a kind human with a gentle approach. He’s professional, friendly, and relatable. He has deep wisdom that’s wrapped in a great sense of humor. During my time with Harvey I have done work around existentialism (identifying and expressing self), relationships, and healing legacy negative core beliefs, and past learnings. I feel fortunate to have had my path cross with Harvey’s!

I enjoyed working with Harvey very much. He was a good listener and was able to quickly get down to the root of my problems and help me to work through them. With Harvey’s help I was able to look at things from a different perspective which then allowed me to make changes for the better. I am no longer “stuck” and see a much brighter future ahead.
